Current Film Viewings

So, it's true, i've been to the cinema one too many times this month. So far: The Happening, Mamma Mia, Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E. But two of them films were truly amazing and two were truly dire! I think you can work out which ones were awlful. If Not...

Then there you go, a small reminder of the utter rubbish which I paid £7.20 to go and see. These films were just utterly hillarious, but I think half the time it was unintentional. The happening was just another example of M.Night.Shylamanifebgaiogvshr0o's amazing films (or lack thereafter). The plot was awlful and the cinematography was dreadful. An unexpected appearance from the boom mic throughout the film was laughable..I guess you wasn't expecting that hey? Well if that wasn't enough then don't forget that Dreamworks blockbuster Kung Fu Panda! This amazing film had me falling asleep. But the little problem was that there was soooo many amazingly rubbish characters that I just lost control of who wanted to be the ultimate Kung Fu warrior (or something like that, frankly, I just don't care). So after being amazingly bored by both them films, I was awaiting a highly entertaining film..and then suddenly two came along at once! Wow amazing coincidence!

Mamma Mia and Wall-E, probably the most amazing films of this year, thoroughly entertaining. I'll start with Wall-E because you've probably already read my past blog on Mamma Mia. Well where to start with Wall-E... I went to this film also with mixed feelings, I was worried that it was going to be another Pixar flop, but lets just say it didn't disappoint. I couldn't believe how unbelievably cute Wall-E actually was! His little eyes which just made me sad every time you got a close-up of him. But there was one thing that did make me laugh, the obese people who lived on this random flying spaceship/cruise ship/home/something. They were transported everywhere on mechanical flying chairs, and god forbid one of them fell off because they wouldn't be getting up of their own accord (yes they were that obese!). They were on this ship because the Earth has been deemed un-livable due to too much rubbish poluting the Earth(subliminal message.. indeed). The ending to the film was a tear-jerker I must say, it was leading the audience to believe that Wall-E was going to die, yes I repeat GOING TO DIE, but obviously, being a Pixar film, no-one dies..ahh what a bore! So at the end there was butterflies, flowers and obese people. Wall-E and his love interest Eve-a? got together and held robotic hands...awwww!

Mamma Mia, well all you really need to do is read the review in my last post to know if I liked that film (even though I do slate it a little). If you love ABBA songs then you will love this film, with the little exception that nearly all the cast can't sing the songs half as well as ABBA themselves, but hey lets give them some slack, they tried (ha). So that was the summer musical, and I think i've had my share of musicals this year...Oh no, oh wait...High School Musical 3..the highly anticipated, all dancing, all singing loser fest! Wow I just can't wait...I can't even contain my excitement (tumble weed).

Don't get too excited about HSM3 Matt!

Goodbye my fellow friends

Coming soon: Something read-worthy (I promise).

Film talk I guess..

So, I felt that it was time that I tried to add something equally witty and sarcastic to my blog as my other classroom friends, but then I realised that I shouldn't really even try to bother!

So then, I though I know I'll write my own review on Mamma Mia, which I saw last weekend! Now, there had been a few mixed reactions about this film and I can see why. Half the population of boys refusing to see! But I mean who doesn't want to see Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth with their shirts off?

Phwoar aren't they just hot?

Anyway back to the film. The first ten minutes of the film were suggesting a very sloshy girly chick flick, and the other half of the brave men who even dared to enter the cinemas were jumping for the exit. After another fifteen long minutes of Amanda Seysomething(Sophie)dallying with her friends proclaiming that she had sent three letters to three possible fathers, you finally see Meryl Streep strutting her stuff'. Then Meryl Streeps(Donna) friends finally arrive (Julie Walters and Christine Baranski) adding the humour which the film really needed. Amanda goes around the island singing for a while and then the three hotties(cough cough) arrive to pick up the pace of the film. Everything goes to plot when Donna finds out that threee of her ex's have turned up for her daughters wedding, unbeknown to her that Sophie was the one who invited them anyway..confused yet?

The evening before the wedding is a time for Donna and the gang to get back into their glad rags and have a song and dance (funny that). The men all turn up and ruin the party, everything gets a little too out of hand and it turns into something which shouldn't be rated PG. Each potential dad saying that they will give Sophie away and Donna have a mental break down makes for the last half an hour of the film.

Gah!

Then the day of the wedding comes and Sophie gets all emotional and says she doesn't want to marry some guy (then why make this film?) and everyone is in tears =[ But then they do get married and Peirce Brosnana tries to talk to Donna but she's having none of it. The potter up to the church which appears to be on a very large rock and they are all sitting there waiting for them to get married, some big argument occurs(as usual) and shockingly Peirce asks Donna to marry him...Ooooooo! Then they have a massive party and that reveals that Colin Firth is indeed gay. It rains (?) and they all dance topless (urh) and everyone gets their happy ending, there you go end of film.

Now, it may seem that I hate this film, but I don't! I think that this film is incredibaly cheesey and the singing on some occassions is dire, but I guess it's part of the fun hey?! The actors make the film and for me Julie Walters made it. An amazing laugh, one to watch with your friends! Well do not be discouraged by my lovely review of it, you should still go and see it. If you love ABBA then you will definately love it, I have been singing the songs all week now..damn!

Rachels Rating: 9/10

Coming next time...Something rubbish =]
